Stitch Fix – Take Two

And I was doing so well, too. What better reason to jump back into the blogging game than my latest shipment of clothes from Stitch Fix?! And my 35th birthday! So. Many. Things.

But just the clothes for now. I was really excited to get my next shipment from Stitch Fix. Even though I only ended up keeping one item from my first fix back in May, I was impressed that everything they sent me fit, and that nothing was completely a “no” from the get-go. I went back, made my notes, and had high hopes for attempt number two. Here’s how that went.

(1) Fun2Fun Mirabel Lace Insert Blouse

Out of all the items in the box this time around, this one was the one that looked the most “me” as I was pulling items out. So, imagine my surprise when I put it on and didn’t love it. I’ve been trying to revamp my closet a little bit – to match my age and style a little better. The lace detail on this top was so pretty, but the high neck made it feel a little old to me. Verdict: Returned

(2) Fun2Fun Julianna Back Cutout Top

I absolutely loved the back of this shirt. Sadly, the front didn’t do it for me. I felt like it made me look bigger than I am. On top of that, the print’s not really my style – I’m more graphic than palm frond. Verdict: Returned

(3) THML Abriana Geo Detail Shift Dress

Ding, ding, ding! This dress was cute out of the box, and even better on. Even though it’s a shift, it was a little slimmer in the middle than I expected, which helped give me a shape. The color combo is not something I usually go for – the navy and red with pale gold detail is nothing I would have pulled off a rack in a store – but it pays to try everything on. Verdict: KEPT!

(4) Hailey 23 Nori Dress

This dress was so soft! When I first laid a hand on it, I prayed it would look good on just so I could keep touching it. And if it had been sent to me as a blanket, or even a t-shirt, it would have been a no-brainer. But as this dress, not so much. It was just a little too clingy for me…as in, one big lunch and I would be completely uncomfortable in it. Verdict: Returned

(5) Bay to Baubles Fringe Necklace

Aaaaah, this necklace. I pulled it on over the shirt I had on when I opened the box and it actually went perfectly. But after thinking about it a little, I came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t really go with much else in my closet. My outfits tend to skew more towards the blacks and greys…which I tend to prefer silver tones with. Verdict: Returned

So, we’re one for five again. On the one hand, I was hoping for a higher success rate on the second attempt. On the other, I was kind of relieved because my credit card could not have handled much more this month. Until September… I already let them know that fall is my favorite. So, I’m hoping for at least one cozy sweater in there.

Just as a reminder…
