WATCH IT: Odd Mom Out

Have you ever watched a TV show or movie and thought that the idea was stolen off of pages from your diary? No? Just me? Well, for me, that show this season has been Odd Mom Out.

If you haven’t been watching, and you’re a mom (especially in NYC), what are you waiting for? The season just wrapped last week and all ten episodes are available to watch at BravoTV. Seriously, get on that.

The series stars acclaimed author and fashionista Jill Kargman playing a version of herself as she navigates the treacherous and elite ecosystem of New York’s Upper East Side, and the uber-wealthy mommy clique inhabiting this fantastically outrageous domain. – BravoTV

I know, I know… I don’t live on the Upper East Side. I didn’t marry into a family of New York blue bloods. I don’t even think I could afford to rent a closet in the Webers’ fictional apartment. But it’s so much bigger than that. I have felt inferior in a group of all-organic/breastmilk-only/Hamptons-summering/high-heeled, designer moms. And I’m willing to bet most moms out there have as well.

Let me make it clear; I have no ill will towards those kinds of moms. If anything, I find them a little intimidating. Buuuuuuuut that’s just not me. Much like Jill Weber, I would much rather meet a friend for donuts (AKA gay bagels) than do whatever it is fancy people do for breakfast. I’m guessing it somehow involves kale.

Another great lesson learned from Odd Mom Out? You only need one great friend to navigate the craziness of life. I can’t imagine where Jill would be without her Truth Fairy, Vanessa. It’s an important reminder of the value in having someone in your life who knows the real you and helps you stay the real you.

Excuse me, there’s an underwear dance party happening in my living room that I need to get back to…

UPDATE: Odd Mom Out has officially been picked up for a second season. See above GIF. Thank you, Bravo TV!
