Unlike the never-ending January we experienced, February seemed to fly by, and now here we are approaching the end of March. Time, huh?
This is a weird time of year for entertainment; a lot of shows are having their season finales, and the end of awards season usually means not a lot of new releases until summer. But SPRING IS COMING, and that means warmer weather (i.e., cuter clothes) and mid-season programming.
Here’s what’s going on for now.
WATCHING: Vanderpump Rules on Bravo
As you may already know, live tweeting is one of my favorite pastimes. And with it’s seemingly nonstop antics, Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules is one of the most fun to do running commentary along with.
Queen Bee of Beverly Hills, Lisa Vanderpump runs several successful restaurants around LA, and this show chronicles the lives of the young, hot staff at SUR. There are aspiring actors, models, and musicians, and it’s about as ridiculous as you would imagine.
Lala Kent is the modern-day feminist I never knew I needed, and the addition of transgender hostess Billie Lee has brought some very current issues to the forefront. But above all, this show is just plain fun… in an I-might-be-too-old-to-watch-this sort of way.
READING: Whisper by Mark Batterson
On the complete other end of the spectrum, we find this amazing book by Mark Batterson. He puts his own spin on the traditional love languages to explain what he believes to be God’s seven love languages, and the ways God uses those to communicate with us.
According to Batterson, author of the hyper-successful The Circle Maker, God is actively speaking through: Scripture, Desires, Doors, Dreams, People, Promptings, and Pain. We simply need to learn how to listen and receive those messages.
This book is a little convicting (as in, why am I not hearing God all the time?), but also really exciting, knowing that He really is sending us messages all the time.
Are you listening?
LISTENING TO: Altitude Summit on Facebook
I had my first taste of the conference life last year, when I had the unbelievable good fortune of attending BlogHer. What can I say? I’m hooked!
Unfortunately, big conferences tend to be really expensive, which is why it’s so exciting that this year Altitude Summit had a brand new offering: #AltTogether.
While it’s never the same as actually being there and doesn’t include ALL the content, this was a great way to listen to the majority of the sessions from the comfort of home and for a fraction of the cost.
BONUS: Participants were sent a parred down version of the conference swag, and it was filled with so much cute stuff!
EATING: Wholesome Pantry Freeze Dried Fuji Apple Fruit Crisps
It’s a pretty well-known fact that metabolism slows down with age. That is super unfortunate for this bonafide junk food junkie, but as a result I’ve been trying to find healthier snack alternatives for myself.
ShopRite was kind enough to send me a sampling of their new Wholesome Pantry line, and I can’t get enough of these apple crisps.
The texture is not at all what I expected (super light), and they make for a great, healthy snack!
WEARING: Zoe calf hair d’Orsay flats in leopard from J. Crew Outlet
There are certain items that I consider must-haves in my wardrobe – Chelsea boots, a leather jacket, the perfect jeans. One of those for me is leopard flats. I tend to wear a lot of neutrals, and they’re a great way to spice up an outfit.
Unfortunately, after wearing out my previous pair, I had been unable to find ones that I liked, something a little more grown up than a basic ballet flat.
My sister has the best eye when it comes to buying me shoes, and she tracked down these babies for me as a Christmas gift. Now that the snow is (slowly) melting, they are finally on heavy rotation.
What are YOU loving right now? Anything (including, but not limited to movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, books, theater, [NYC] restaurants, recipes, clothing/accessories, websites…) I should put on my must-check-out list?
