Isn’t that how it feels?! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was complaining about how slowly January seemed to be moving, and now? The year is basically over!

But before we turn to my most favorite time of the year, let’s turn to my most favorite things of… right now.

WATCHING: Netflix Originals

August tends to be a weird month when it comes to television. A lot of summer shows are wrapping up, but the new seasons don’t usually start up until September.

Enter: Netflix.

To say that Netflix has stepped up their original programming is quite the understatement. In addition to finally catching up on season four of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, I’ve also watched several other of their original programming, including…

Cupcake and Dino: General Services: My son flew through this show, and it’s one of the few series of his I actually didn’t mind watching along with.

Set It Up: You know what the world needs? More rom-coms! And this is a surprisingly good one. Solid cast and several funny moments, plus just the right amount of cliche.

Nailed It: Imagine Cake Wars, except instead of professional bakers,  it’s a lot of people that have literally never baked a day in their lives. Very fun!

READING: Because Crack is Illegal by Raema Mauriello

I’m constantly looking for new ways to get my Bible reading in. So, when I came across this title, I knew I had to check it out.

This 30-day devotional for moms has been so great for me! It’s always nice to read about someone and see yourself in them. And this mom keeps it real and points to wisdom in the Bible to help us all maintain our sanity.

I am currently on day 19 of 30, and it’s already made such a difference in my days to start the morning with a little Bible reading with a side of truth bomb from one honest mama to another.

While I’m looking forward to the rest of this one, I’m already on the lookout for my next devotional. If you have any suggestions – practical, Biblical, enjoyable – please let me know in the comments.

LISTENING TO: Dirty John (podcast)

I really enjoyed SerialS-Town? Not so much.

I decided to give the true crime genre another shot with this popular pick. Unfortunately, it was another meh for me.

This podcast centers around John, a serial grifter, and the family to infiltrated and later betrayed. I feel like it could have been great, but it ended up feeling like a whole lot of buildup without much in the way of payoff in the end.

To me, the creepiest part was [SPOILER ALERT!] the lack of affect on the part of the young girl who ended up killing John after he attacked her. Girlfriend, you stabbed the guy how many times?!

EATINGShaved Cream from SNOWDAYS

I have a friend who many, many years ago was singing the praises of this little place no one had ever heard of. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and I finally made my way to the SNOWDAYS outpost in the West Village.

Shaved cream is a new category in frozen desserts. It is a hybrid of ice cream and shaved ice. With this delicious combination, we are able to achieve the texture of a fluffy snow with taste and creaminess of ice cream.

I tried the cheesecake flavor with chocolate chips and salted caramel. It was so good, and their description of the frozen treat is spot on. It’s creamy like ice cream, but so light!

Pictured is their seasonal watermelon concoction, which was the perfect refreshment for a hot summer evening.

WEARING: Seychelles Redeem Mules

It took me a long while to get on board with the mule trend. There was just something about them that I didn’t like. But I when I saw this pair come up in the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I decided to finally give them a shot.

Long story short, I’ve been wearing them nonstop all month.

The closed toe makes me feel okay wearing them to work, and the open back make them both comfortable and acceptable for what has been a crazy hot month.

What are YOU loving right now? Anything (including, but not limited to movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, books, theater, [NYC-area] restaurants, recipes, clothing/accessories, websites…) I should put on my must-check-out list?
